Compounding Education Courses

Compounding FAQ

The National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) receives queries from time to time from individuals seeking recommendations for education courses that would enable them to meet the requirements outlined in the NAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding of Non-Hazardous Sterile PreparationsNAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding of Hazardous Sterile PreparationsNAPRA Model Standards for Pharmacy Compounding of Non-Sterile Preparations and accompanying guidance document.

It is not within NAPRA’s role to offer educational courses, nor to endorse education programs, resources or information provided by outside organizations. This includes organizations providing education, resources or information related to compounding. Therefore, NAPRA does not recommend or endorse any particular training or education program.

Pharmacy professionals should be wary of organizations that imply an affiliation with NAPRA, since NAPRA does not recommend or endorse any particular training, education program or resource.

Further, it is important to note that outside organizations are presenting their personal interpretation of the information and professional judgment and critical appraisal is always required when reading or receiving new information. Pharmacy professionals should contact the pharmacy regulatory authority (PRA) in their province or territory for more information on compliance with the compounding standards in that jurisdiction. A list of pharmacy regulatory authorities in Canada can be found on the NAPRA website.
