Following discussions and consultation about the pharmacy regulatory authorities’ (PRAs) approach to compounding competence, the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) worked with the PRAs to update the guidance for compounding education accreditors and the list of qualifications for compounding assessors. NAPRA and the PRAs also developed frequently asked questions to clarify the national-level information on this topic.
NAPRA has created a new section of its website to help communicate national-level information about compounding competence on behalf of the PRAs. This new section dedicated to compounding competence, which includes the following information, can now be found in the Resources section of the NAPRA website:
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Pharmacy Regulatory Authority Guidance for Compounding Education Accreditors
- National List of Qualifications for Compounding Assessors
NAPRA thanks everyone that provided feedback on this important topic. The next steps are for each PRA to determine and/or confirm the approach to compounding competence in its own jurisdiction. Once the details are finalized, the PRAs will clearly communicate the jurisdiction-specific timelines and requirements for compounding competence in their province or territory. Pharmacy professionals are encouraged to monitor PRA communications to remain informed when the PRAs communicate information on compounding competence in their province or territory.
